One thing that remains constant no matter who you are in life is this: Time. If you think about it, it doesn’t matter if you’re Warren Buffet or your cousin Steve, if you can learn how to tenfold your productivity, you will find that your time is much more valuable than you thought it was before. Every last one of us have the same 168 hours in a week, 24 hours in a day and 60 minutes in an hour.
The difference comes from what we choose to do with that time. Ask yourself this: Are you as productive as you could be? We make decisions that affect what we spend time on - we can choose to watch the next episode of a reality show on Netflix, or we could choose to finally draw a line in the sand and get control of our finances. However, no matter what we choose, time is the ultimate equalizer. We all have the same amount of it.
Think about what you do with your spare time. Look at what you do and ask yourself if it was productive, or if you got anything out of it? Binge-watching 8 seasons of a television show certainly isn’t advancing me in my career, health, or faith. Think about some of the other things we do in our spare time, as well, that may not seem as obviously wasteful.
Social media, news, even checking your stocks - all these things are distractions. This is not to say to cut every one of these things out of your life, but the more you think about it and the more you become conscious of where your time is going, you might be surprised how your attitude towards it changes.
What is the system for you to reach maximum health and vitality? As a business owner, leading a driven, productive real estate team, you need to know the systems that you have in place to support yourself as the leader you are required to be? You need to not only know these systems, but know them in and out, back and forth. Are you meal prepping? Are you time blocking?
Even things like drinking water and tracking sleep (which I do with an Oura ring - highly recommend) will help you maximize your energy and enable you to be the best version of yourself - which you’re going to need to be in order to maintain your team properly.
Let’s first talk about dominating your day. Start with one sheet of paper, and start by tracking 3 systems you’re working on in your business and the next 5 action steps associated with them. Then you write your top 6 money making activities for the day, there’s a section for task lists outside of your top 6, and it’s a page a day.
In previous podcast episodes I’ve talked about having a 3 year picture for your business (and your life), create and plan out 1 year in advance, and live in a 90 day world - which has 13 weeks, each with 5 days of work. If you’re dominating your day, every day, you’re going to win.
Another big step towards this goal of 10x-ing your productivity is taking clarity breaks. We’ve talked about this before in other podcasts as well, but I want to really emphasize how important these are and why you should try it - anywhere from 60-90 minutes during your week, the same time, you could go for a walk, sit at a coffee shop, you’re just going to get away from technology, from work, from distractions, and take this time and ask yourself some important questions.
You can develop your own questions, or you can use the list we use - you ask yourself what’s working. Spiritually, financially, in your business, in your life, what’s working, and the flip side of what isn’t working. Think about these questions.
