During times of uncertainty, we don’t have the constant, underlying comfort we have when the world is operating as it should. We have to be vigilant in our efforts to maintain our mindsets over these seasons. Otherwise, we could find ourselves second-guessing ourselves, losing confidence and not being a reliable source for our teams to look up to.
Here are a couple of things that we do at Real Estate B-School that help us maintain our mindsets and remain the calm, level presence among the uncertainty and discouragement of the shift storm we are in:
Positive Focus / Gratitude - Start your day by thinking to yourself, what are you looking forward to that day? Come up with 3 or so simple things that you can look forward to for that day. Write them down. At the end of the day, look back and recognize the things that you did that day that were awesome. Practicing gratitude is one of the best ways to combat negative emotions before they even manifest themselves in you.
Clarity Break - Take a 90 minute clarity break once a week. This may sound like a long lunch, but you need to be intentional about it - because it is your time to screw your head on straight. Take a walk, go somewhere quiet, or something. Take a journal and answer some questions to yourself - what is working well for you in your business? What is not working well? What can you do today to make a difference in your business?
Physical Body - Making sure that your physical body is taken care of is more important now than ever. Make sure you are getting plenty of sleep each night - your body uses this time to recharge. If you cheat yourself out of sleep by waking up early and going to bed late, or generally not getting quality sleep every night, it will show up in your personal life as well as your business.
While people are looking up to you, it’s important to keep a level head and be the example you want your team to follow. Your enthusiasm and optimism will inspire them and keep them grounded during these uncertain times. You will be the rock that they can hang onto in the stormy waters!
