One of the worst things that I see happen in businesses today is that people just lose momentum. It feels like you’re pushing a boulder up a hill, and you can’t even see the top. So, how do you keep the momentum going? How do you push through to the other side?
There are 6 different phases in what we call the Business Freedom Code. Each of these phases has a ceiling that, if you don’t do the right things in that phase to move you on to the next one, you’re constantly going to hit.
There are a few things I want to go through to help you keep the momentum going when things get hard - and trust me, it’s going to be hard. If it isn’t hard for you, it’s probably because you’re doing something wrong, or you’re setting up your business the wrong way.
It’s gonna suck either way - the life of a traditionally successful real estate agent in my opinion sucks. You’re sacrificing so much for a business to the point where you never even get to take a vacation.
Let’s talk about the things that I’ve done, and that our members are doing to break through the ceiling and get to the next level.
The first thing - you have to have a really clear vision of where you want to go. Without this step, however obvious it may seem, you’re really up a creek. It’s okay to dream a little - this step is just encouraging you to write down what you actually want to do so that you can get up and make strides towards actually achieving it.
After that, you need leverage. This is the leverage that you use to remind yourself why you do this. The leverage that creates a drive in you to work hard and be motivated, and keep at it when things get tough. You need to remind yourself of the why. Think about why you’re going down this difficult, painful road. For me, it was so that my kids and my wife would have a life that we couldn’t even imagine possible. This will change as you go - now, my leverage is around providing life and empowerment for my team members.
The next thing is to use another kind of leverage. This leverage is all about marketing - being able to attract leads and sustainably generate leads from different sources. Don’t give money to Zillow, or Realtor.com, or any of the paid home search giants. Using Systems in your business to document and regulate tasks and how your people operate is the next step. And finally, empowering a team of people around you to serve you well and to take tasks off your plate that you don’t want to do or that don’t make you a lot of money.
Momentum will not last forever if you’re in this business for the wrong reasons. Unless you have this vision of using personal leverage (your “Why?”) and your leverage of empowered people, sustainable systems, and predictable success, you’re going to stall and burn out. Don’t let that happen!
